2024 PlumpJack Syrah, Napa Valley

The 2024 PlumpJack Syrah opens with loads of fresh fruit—blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, plum, and blueberry. While the warmer vintage turned up the volume on the fresh fruit, there is a beautiful savory component lurking just beneath the surface—white pepper, sweet hickory smoke, sage, peppered jerky, and a sweet, earthy tone reminiscent of caramelized mushrooms. The palate is superbly balanced with a silky, chocolatey texture, fine, ripe tannins, a fresh acidity, and an enduring finish that leaves the impression of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and mocha.
